New Moon & Full Moon Ceremony

full-moon

A New Moon and Full Moon Ceremony is a time to connect and honour the cycles and phases of the Moon and harness the energies to help us create, manifest and heal.

The Moon is the closest celestial body to Earth and because of that has a large influence on us.  By tuning into the Moon’s energy and having a basic understanding about the cycles and phases of the Moon and its significance to us, we can create more harmony and peace in our day to day life.

When first learning about and tuning into the Moon and its cycles its best to begin and focus on the New Moon and Full Moon.  This is so you don’t become too overwhelmed.

The Moon is tied to our emotions, how we nurture others, how we like to be nurtured, Mothers, the Divine Feminine, and intuition.  The Moon energy is expressed through the signs of the zodiac that it is in, this changes approximately every 2 ½ days.

The New Moon is a time of healing, introspection, new beginnings, a fresh start, a time when we can discover the seeds of new ideas, projects and energies we want bring into our life.

The Full Moon is when the energy of the Moon is at its full strength.  It is a time of great intuition and power. We can release what no longer is for our highest good, we can ask for guidance on what actions need to be taken to make changes.

Preparing for Ceremony:

It is best to choose a time when you will not be disturbed, don’t forget to turn off your phone.

Gather all of the things you will need for your ceremony- music or nature sounds if you can’t be outside, you may want a special piece of cloth to build your altar on, candle(s), smudge spray or a smudge bundle to burn, crystals to make a grid, personal crystals, anointing oil, paper (special journal) and pen for writing, anything else you feel guided to bring or add that is Sacred to you.   You may wish to have a special box or container that you keep all of these items in.

Personally I like to have a shower or bath before doing a ceremony.  It helps cleanse my physical and energy body and put me in the right mindset.  If you didn’t want to do a shower or bath you could wash your hands and feet with water, you could make it special by having lavender and rose petals in the water or crystals like rose quartz and amethyst.

New Moon Ceremony:

Ground your energy

Begin to create your Sacred Space- invite in your Angels, Guides, Faeries, Ascended Masters, any other Beings of Light that would like to join and support you at this time.

You may wish to ask for one of these helpers to stand in for each corner of the room.  They often look like large pillars of light, ask that they surround the entire room in white light to hold this space in Divine Light and Love.

This is also a good time to smudge.  Using your Sacred Smudge Spray, Smudge bundle, or loose sage to burn, smudge the room and yourself.

Create your Altar- cloth, light the candle(s), place crystals and other Sacred items.  There is no right way to do this, its about listening to your intuition and what you are guided to do.

Set your Intentions- get in a comfortable position sitting or standing. Take a few deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth to centre your energy.  You may want to anoint yourself with Sacred Ceremony Oil

Write down your intentions: ask yourself,  What would I like to invite into my life?  What in my life do I want to grow and thrive? What new projects or ideas would I like to create?

When you are finished writing hold the paper up to your Heart Chakra, place both hands over top to infuse it with your energy.  You may wish keep these intentions in a journal that you can look back and reflect on or invite them into your life from the Universe by burning the paper.

This is a great time to build and activate a Crystal Grid for the New Moon.  You can create your own personal one or use this one we have created. To work with a Crystal grid not physically present, read THIS post for suggestions.

This New Moon grid is created with Black, White and Rainbow Moonstones, Green Opal, Prehnite, and Clear Quartz.  The Intention of this grid is to support and nurture, balance and align your energy.  It assists in connecting with your Angels & Guides, tapping into your intuition to know and understand what is to come, helps with clearing and healing.

Write down affirmations that will help you with your intentions. ie- “I allow myself to be open and receive this energy of new beginning and all guidance and messages that come” “I create my life each day”-Louise L. Hay  She is my favourite “go-to” person for affirmations. Her book ‘Meditations to Heal Your Life’ is phenomenal.

You may want to Write an abundance cheque

If you wish, sit in quiet meditation for as long as you like, connect and receive any messages or insights from your support team that is with you at this time.  Write them down in your journal with your intentions and affirmations.

Finishing your Ceremony-  give thanks to your Angels, Guides, Faeries, Ascended Masters and any other Being of Light that joined you today and for the messages or energy they gave you.  Snuff out the candle.  Pack up your Altar if you do not want to leave it up. If you used a smudge bundle or sage to smudge and have ashes please take these outside to be carried away by the wind or buried in the ground.
